McDonald's Spicy Menu: The Heat Test
Today it's getting spicy: we're taking a closer look at McDonald's Switzerland's new Spicy Menu. The heart of the menu is the Spicy Chicken Nuggets, which come in their signature golden-orange breading and visually hint that there's a bit more kick packed in here than in the classic nuggets. The first bite confirms it: the spicy coating delivers a pleasant but definitely noticeable punch. For Swiss taste buds, though, it's still totally manageable and more of a gentle intro to the world of heat.
Alongside that comes the "What's Your Spice Limit" dip set with three different sauces in ascending heat levels: Warm, Hot, and a third, even more intense stage. We start with "Warm" and dunk the nuggets generously. This sauce clearly packs more punch than the nuggets on their own, but there's a subtle sweetness in the background that nicely rounds off the heat. Overall, it still goes down easily without needing to reach for the milk – even though a carton of milk sits ready on the table as a rescue option, complete with a cheeky little "Swiss Anti Spice Formula" sticker.
What's really fun is the whole presentation: the packaging with its warning-stripe design, flame icons, and the slogan "Dip Responsibly" makes it clear even before the first bite that there's a bit of showmanship involved here. It fits perfectly with the concept of a limited Spicy Menu that's clearly aimed at heat fans and the curious who want to test their personal limits.
My verdict so far after the nuggets and the first sauce: solid heat with great flavor, definitely still in safe territory for anyone used to chili. I'm curious to see how things go with "Hot" and the mysterious third sauce – that could turn out to be a whole different ballgame.
