New Smashburger Player in Rümlang: Bomoyi Put to the Test
Today we headed to Rümlang, where Bomoyi, a new smashburger spot near Zürich, just opened its doors. Visually, the place already brings a lot to the table: bright, friendly interior, a blue accent wall, a self-order counter and a Coca-Cola fridge as an eye-catcher. But of course, at the end of the day, it's all about the burger.
We tested the Cheeseburger with a smash patty. At first glance, the buns look a bit dainty and almost too small in proportion to the thick patty stack, but flavor-wise everything comes together really well. The burger is loaded with mustard, ketchup and a homemade house sauce that's pleasantly spicy with a light smokiness. Combined with the ketchup and mustard, that makes for a really well-rounded sauce combo. On top of that come fried onions, lettuce and a few pickles, which give the whole thing the crunch and acidity it needs.
The meat itself is prepared in proper smash style: nicely crispy on the outside, with a light smoky flavor running subtly through the whole patty. The cheese - a true American cheddar-style - is melted to perfection and brings exactly the creamy component that holds the burger together. Overall, the burger feels absolutely solid and coherent, nothing falls apart, nothing feels thrown together carelessly.
The fries were also briefly shown in the video and make a really good impression with their crispy texture, classic thin-cut and well seasoned.
My verdict: a genuinely solid smashburger, which I'd rate at 8.8 out of 10 points. It's not quite enough (yet) for my personal top 10, but it's definitely a spot you should have on your radar in the region if you're into juicy, sauce-loaded smashburgers. Bomoyi in Rümlang is definitely worth a visit.
