Cevapcici in Bread – Balkan Street Food in Zurich
At the Čići food truck in Zurich's Viadukt, there's a street food dish I just had to show you: Cevapcici in bread, served in a modern, jazzed-up style. The truck, which rolls under the motto "Made by your Brate," brings the classic Balkan grilled sausage to the street with a fresh, urban twist. A crispy grilled baguette gets packed with several juicy Cevapcici made from seasoned minced meat. The meat is spicy, slightly smoky and beautifully juicy - you can tell right away that they really care about the traditional recipe and proper seasoning here. On top of that comes a creamy yogurt dip that nicely rounds off the heat of the spices, plus pickled red onions and finely shredded red cabbage for that crunch and fresh kick you need. To finish it off, there's a traditional Ajvar touch with a peperoni note, giving the whole thing a slightly sweet, smoky heat. Every bite is a little flavor explosion: the juicy meat, the creamy sauce, the crunch from the cabbage and the tang from the onions all complement each other perfectly. The bread is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside - exactly right for holding all that filling together without everything falling apart. If you're after a modern take on the classic Cevapcici sandwich, Čići is spot on. It's the perfect mix of traditional Balkan flavor and a fresh, street-food-ready presentation. An absolute recommendation from me - if you're out and about in Zurich, you should definitely swing by and try it yourself. A snack that fills you up without sitting too heavy in your stomach. A clear buy recommendation from me!
